Late 1960s; successful journalist Ward investigates the brazen murder of an influential racist sheriff in a small southern town. His goal is to free the wrongfully convicted man and, at the same time, produce sensational material together with his colleague from London. The journalists are assisted by Jack, a young newspaper delivery boy who is Ward's brother, and Charlotte, an incredibly sexy blonde who has fallen in love through correspondence with the very prisoner on death row. Each of the characters has something to hide and something to fear...
