Movie Moana (2026)
Story
Teenage Moana has always belonged to the island community of Motunui, where life unfolds along the familiar shores and the reef marks the edge of the known world. When the Ocean calls her toward a greater challenge, she gathers the courage to sail beyond that boundary and seek a way to restore prosperity to her people.
Her journey brings her together with Maui, an infamous demigod whose reputation precedes him. Their voyage across the open sea becomes an uneasy partnership filled with adventure, humor, and the demands of a mission that reaches far beyond Moana's home. Together, they face the uncertainty of the ocean while learning what responsibility, courage, and loyalty require.
Overview
Moana combines family-friendly comedy with fantasy and seafaring adventure. The story centers on a young heroine answering a call she cannot ignore, then leaving the security of Motunui to protect the future of her community. The ocean setting gives the film a broad sense of discovery, while the relationship between Moana and Maui adds a lively human dimension to the quest.
Directed by Thomas Kail, the American production follows a clear emotional path from a sheltered island life toward a demanding voyage. Its appeal rests on the contrast between Moana's determination and Maui's formidable, unpredictable presence, creating space for both character-driven humor and a larger journey of restoration.
