Movie Scary Movie (2026)

Story

Twenty-six years after escaping a masked killer whose methods feel alarmingly familiar, the members of the Core Four find themselves drawn back into danger. Their past has not stayed buried, and the killer’s return places them in the crosshairs once again. As the threat closes in, the story turns its attention toward the conventions, characters, and recurring dangers that have shaped modern horror cinema.

Scary Movie presents a comic take on the familiar masked-killer setup, using a reunion of survivors as the starting point for a new round of peril and parody. The premise keeps the focus on the group’s shared history while opening the door to jokes aimed across the wider horror genre.

Overview

This American comedy is directed by Michael J. Moore and built around a horror-inspired premise. Its tone combines the tension of a familiar slasher scenario with broad comic energy, placing recognizable genre situations in a deliberately playful setting. The return of the Core Four gives the film a continuing thread, while the promise that no horror property is safe sets an expansive comic target.

The film features Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, and Cheri Oteri. Together, the ensemble brings the project’s returning-survivor premise and its genre-focused humor into a contemporary comedy format.

Cast and Characters

Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, Regina Hall, and Cheri Oteri lead the cast. The story centers on the Core Four, a group connected by their earlier escape from a suspiciously familiar masked killer. The available information does not identify individual character names, so the ensemble is presented through its shared role in the returning group and the danger surrounding them.

Michael J. Moore directs the film, while the cast anchors its mix of reunion, suspense, and comedy. Their characters face a threat rooted in horror conventions, giving the performers room to play with the recognizable dynamics of survivors confronting a killer once again.
