Monkey Man

Movie Monkey Man (2024)

Description:

Story

Known only as Kid, a young man survives on the margins of a sprawling city by entering an underground fight club. Wearing a gorilla mask, he steps into the ring night after night, absorbing brutal punishment from more popular fighters in exchange for modest pay. Behind the anonymity lies a past marked by loss and deeply buried anger.

When Kid finds a route into the closed world of the city’s powerful elite, years of silence begin to give way to action. The scars on his hands become a reminder of everything he has endured as he pursues the people responsible for taking his childhood and his future. His campaign for retribution draws him through a dangerous maze of violence, corruption, and social power.

Overview

Monkey Man combines action, crime, and thriller elements in a tense story of survival and revenge. The film moves between the claustrophobic energy of illegal fights and the guarded spaces occupied by the city’s ruling class, creating a sharp contrast between those who struggle to be seen and those who remain protected from consequence.

Directed by Dev Patel, the film centers its momentum on Kid’s physical endurance and emotional restraint. His journey gradually exposes the forces shaping his rage while keeping the focus on a determined outsider who must enter a hostile system on his own terms. The production brings together talent from Canada, India, Singapore, and the United States.
