Overview

The Teachers’ Lounge is a German drama directed by İlker Çatak. The film explores the collision between an individual’s ideals and the structures designed to govern everyday school life. Its confined setting creates an atmosphere of mounting unease, where a seemingly contained incident begins to carry consequences for everyone involved.

At the center stands a teacher determined to understand what happened. Her actions raise difficult questions about fairness, responsibility and the cost of pursuing what feels right within an inflexible system. The story remains grounded in human behavior, allowing tension to emerge from relationships, suspicion and competing interpretations of the same events.

Leonie Benesch stars as Carla Nowak, the teacher at the heart of the story. She is joined by Anne-Kathrin Gummich, Eva Löbau and Michael Klamme, who bring the wider school community to life. With its concentrated premise and serious tone, the ensemble reflects the uncertainty that follows when trust begins to break down.
