Overview

Directed by Matt Johnson, this Canadian comedy drama draws on biographical events to recount the rise and fall of the world’s first smartphone. The film balances fast-moving business intrigue with character-driven humor, placing technical ingenuity alongside aggressive commercial strategy. Its appeal comes from the contrast between a creator absorbed in innovation and an executive prepared to push every opportunity to its limit.

Rather than treating technological success as a purely mechanical achievement, the narrative explores the people whose choices shape an expanding enterprise. The result is a lively account of ambition, collaboration, and the fragile momentum behind a worldwide hit.

Cast and Characters

Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton lead the cast as the mismatched figures at the center of the story. Their contrasting personalities give the drama its central tension and provide the film with much of its comic rhythm.

The supporting cast includes Rich Sommer, Michael Ironside, and Cary Elwes. Together, the ensemble helps populate the business world surrounding the company’s rise, reinforcing the film’s focus on professional relationships, pressure, and the human cost of rapid success.
