Movie He Went That Way (2024)

Story

In 1964, a three-day journey along Route 66 takes an unsettling turn when Jim Goodwin, a celebrity animal handler, gives a ride to Bobby Falls, a 19-year-old serial killer. Jim is travelling with Spanky, his cherished television chimpanzee, whose presence adds an unexpected responsibility to an already dangerous encounter. As the miles pass, the road puts two strangers in close quarters, and Jim has to deal with a situation marked by fear, uncertainty and the threat of violence.

Set against the open roads of America, the story follows a short trip that gradually takes on the pressure of a thriller. Jim’s public career as an animal handler and Bobby’s criminal history create a stark contrast, while Spanky remains at the center of the journey and its unusual circumstances. The narrative keeps its focus on the two men sharing the vehicle and on the unease of travelling beside a dangerous stranger.

Overview

He Went That Way combines crime, drama and thriller elements in a compact road story set in the United States in 1964. The unusual pairing of an animal handler, a young killer and a television chimpanzee gives the film a distinctive premise, while the tension comes from the confined setting of a shared car journey.

The road provides constant movement, yet the central conflict remains personal and immediate. This is a serious, suspense-driven drama built around an unpredictable passenger, a vulnerable travelling companion and the fragile situation Jim faces throughout the trip.
