Daria Onishchenko

Ukrainian-German director, screenwriter and creative producer, journalist, member of the Ukrainian Film Academy. Daria Onishchenko was born in Kyiv in 1983. She graduated from the Faculty of International Journalism of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, but already in her student years she dreamed of becoming a director, played in the theater and wrote screenplays. Daria moved to Munich, Germany in 2005, where she graduated from the famous Munich Film and Television Academy five years later with a degree in Feature and Television Film Directing. After several successful short films, Daria Onishchenko shot her debut feature film "Istalgia" (co-production Germany - Ukraine - Serbia), which won many awards and was one of the first co-production films in Ukraine, made in accordance with the European Co-production Convention and released in wide film distribution. In recent years, Daria has worked as a playwright and director in Ukraine and Germany. She is a member of one of the largest directing agencies in Germany, Above the Line, and the Ukrainian Film Academy. In 2018, Daria began production of her new auteur film - the feature film "Forgotten", which became a Ukrainian-Swiss co-production and was shot in January 2019 in Kyiv with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine. The international premiere of her film "Forgotten" took place in October 2019 as part of the competition program of the Warsaw International Film Festival, where the film won a Special Jury Award. Daria Onyschenko works with various production companies in Ukraine, Germany and Switzerland, conducts master classes on international co-production and participates in various educational programs. Among her new projects: a historical film about the life and work of Kazimir Malevich "Malevich" and a film adaptation of the short story "Assignment" by the famous Swiss writer Friedrich Durrenmatt. Daria Onyschenko is an active member of the Ukrainian diaspora in Munich, and on her initiative the Days of Ukrainian Cinema have been held in Germany several times.
