"Casus Kukotsky" is a story that brings the viewer face to face with the truth of human relations and the fate of the country.
The plot unfolds in the middle and in the second half of the twentieth century, and covers almost all socially important events of this period: criminal liability for abortion, the defeat of genetics, "Lysenkoism", arrests and camps, Stalin's funeral, Khrushchev's thaw, the euphoric sixties, the life of the capital's bohemia and jazz. The main character of the film is the hereditary surgeon Pavel Alekseevich Kukotsky. One of the most eminent gynecologists of his time, Kukotsky developed an extensive program to combat criminal abortion and pushed for the repeal of the 1936 abortion ban.
