Film director, screenwriter, actor, public figure. Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1986). People's Artist of Russia (04/20/2006). The childhood of the future director was hard and half-starved. Mother, Praskovya Afanasyevna, worked as a dressmaker, one raised two children (the hardest life and the hard work made themselves felt - she died early, at the age of 52). Trying to put the children on their feet, give them an education, she hid all her life from everyone that her husband was repressed. The truth about Father Stanislav and his older sister were only discovered after the Twentieth Party Congress. In 1958 he graduated from the geological department of Kazan State University, began working in the specialty. But I soon realized that geology is not his vocation. Just at that time, the first television studio opened in Kazan. Stanislav Govorukhin became one of its founders, was both a director and a program editor. But relations with the high party authorities did not work out. In 1961 he was forced to go to Moscow and entered the directing department of the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. In 1966, he graduated with honors from VGIK, his thesis was the film "Vertical".
