Story
After a shipwreck leaves the intelligent robot Roz alone on an uninhabited island, survival becomes an unexpected lesson in adaptation. The unfamiliar environment is filled with harsh conditions and wary animals, while Roz must learn how to function without the systems and routines she once relied on. Her circumstances take a new direction when she encounters an orphaned baby goose and begins caring for it.
The bond between Roz and the young bird brings warmth and purpose to an otherwise unforgiving setting. As the robot builds connections with the island’s animals, she gradually becomes part of a community that initially sees her as an outsider. Their shared experience creates the foundation for an adventure about care, cooperation, and finding a place in an unfamiliar world.
Overview
The Wild Robot combines comedy and adventure in an animated story set against the contrasting landscapes of a remote island. Its premise places a highly capable machine in a natural environment where technology alone cannot provide every answer. Roz’s attempts to understand the animals around her give the film a gentle sense of humor, while her responsibility for the orphaned goose adds emotional focus to the journey.
Directed by Chris Sanders, the film is a Japan and United States production. The narrative centers on the relationship between Roz and the young goose, with the surrounding animals shaping the atmosphere and expanding the story beyond a simple survival tale. The result is an accessible animated adventure built around companionship, change, and the unexpected forms that family can take.
