Ταινία Genie (2023)

Story

Flora is a genie who has spent more than 2,000 years trapped inside an antique jewelry box. When Bernard, a man whose life is unraveling, accidentally calls her to service, the two are thrown together in an unlikely partnership that brings wishes, complications and a chance to rethink what he really wants.

Blending comedy with fantasy, Genie places an ancient supernatural figure in a recognizably modern predicament. The humor comes from the meeting of timeless magic and everyday pressure, and from the choices that follow when an impossible opportunity arrives at an awkward moment.

Overview

Directed by Sam Boyd, this 2023 British-American fantasy comedy builds its premise around a long-imprisoned genie and the troubled man who accidentally summons her. The antique jewelry box links the story to Flora's distant past, while Bernard's personal crisis gives it a human center.

The tone pairs lighthearted situations with a more reflective question: what might a person do when extraordinary power appears in the middle of an ordinary crisis? With its compact magical premise, warm comic spirit and focus on an unlikely connection, the film offers a playful take on wishes, consequences and second chances.

Cast and Characters

The cast includes Alan Cumming, Marc Maron, Tate Ellington, John Reynolds and Luis Guzman, who appear alongside the film's central pair as the story unfolds.

At the heart of the film are two contrasting figures: Bernard, whose life has begun to fall apart, and Flora, an ancient genie returning to service after centuries inside the jewelry box. Their relationship drives the film's comedy, tension and fantasy.
