Story
An unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors sends Moana back to the open sea. Joined by Maui and a new crew, she travels across the far reaches of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters. The voyage takes them beyond familiar shores and into an adventure unlike any Moana has faced before.
The journey brings together seafaring skill, ancestral guidance and the energy of a newly formed team. As the crew moves through remote waters, Moana has to trust her instincts while facing the dangers of an unfamiliar part of the world.
Overview
Moana 2, released in 2024, is an animated adventure with a comic touch. Set against the vast waters of Oceania, the film combines ocean exploration with a story about heritage, courage and the responsibilities of a wayfinder. Its premise leaves room for both lively exchanges between characters and moments of danger as Moana, Maui and their companions head for the far seas.
The film was directed by Dana Ledoux Miller and is a Canada–United States production. The returning partnership of Moana and Maui gives the expedition a familiar center, while the new crew adds fresh personalities to the group and a shared need to reach distant waters safely.
